[ai field note]
gemini has a yolo mode, seriously
Apr 2026
ctrl+y. no confirmations, no permission gates. someone at google shipped this. on the one hand this seems like a terrible idea. on the other hand i dont want to keep clicking approve. we're so screwed.
fig 1.0 / ctrl+y. it's right there in the help menu.
[entry]
gemini cli has a mode called YOLO. ctrl+y. no confirmation prompts, no permission requests — just unimpeded execution of whatever you've asked it to do.
the regular mode asks before it touches your files, runs commands, or does anything irreversible. a reasonable default for a tool that has access to your entire machine.
YOLO mode turns all of that off.
someone named it YOLO, got it past code review, and shipped it. that's not a complaint — it's actually the correct name. and honestly, respect.
